Better Butter
Butter is the base for so many baking recipes. It is important to achieve the correct consistency when dealing with butter based recipes. There are typically three consistencies most recipes deal with: soft, chilled, or melted and cooled. It should be no surprise to learn that most baking recipes require butter at room temperature, or soft. In order to achieve optimal room temperature butter, we recommend leaving the butter on the counter for one hour.
Read before You Write
You wouldn’t take on the task of the next great American novel without first reading some books first, and of course, learning the fundamentals of writing. Then why is it that people want to bake without first diligently reading the recipe? So read the recipe first and then attempt to follow it. This is the single most effective tip for beginner bakers.
Measure for Measure
A good carpenter measures twice and cuts once. So it the same with good bakers. Careful measurement will no doubt yield a better cake. But why only measure twice. How about measuring two, three, maybe four times!
