Cupcakes have been lauded for their voluptuous taste, packed in a small thin space. Indeed, the icing, the decorations, and the sugary center are the perfect pastry of delight. At European Bakery, we produce some of the finest cupcakes in AZ, and we are happy to put smiles on our customer’s faces as we watch the icing disappear into their mouths.
“A Cake to Be Baked in Small Cups”—a Brief History
The first mention of a cupcake essentially characterizes the exquisite pastry. It was mentioned by Amelia Simmons, in anAmerican Cookery, where she delineated a recipe for a cake to be baked in a small cup. Indeed, this is essentially what a cup cake is. In the 19th century, cupcakes became popular amongst the aristocratic class, due to the fact that muffin tins were unavailable. Indeed, cupcakes were baked individually in cupcake size pottery or teacups, and were considered more of a novelty than a convenient delight as they are today.
Recipes of Cupcakes
• Cake in a Mug— this was one of the original recipes. Basically, butter, eggs, and flour were mixed together in a coffee mug, heated in the oven, and dressed with icing.
• Cake in a Jar— This is similar to a cupcake in a mug, except it is baked in a jar.
• Butterfly Cupcake— The butterfly cupcake is your sparrow of cupcakes. They are ubiquitous and the most common type of cupcakes found in bakeries.
• Cake Ball—This is an elaborately frosted cupcake that is in a spherical shape
