Water Cake
Water cake is a Japanese dessert phenomenon that has recently been sweeping the globe. At a glance, water cake looks like its namesake – water. Except this is water that has been formed into a perfect sphere. It bounces and wiggles and can even be squeezed in your hand without losing its shape. That is because it is a type of solidified gelatinous rice cake known as MizuShingenMochi. Is that wild enough for you? Well, get this. If you do not eat water cake within 30 minutes of it being served, it will disappear completely through evaporation. Traditionally, it is served with a sweet syrup and roasted soybean flower, but inventive dessert makes are pair it with all kinds of amazing things recently.
