The variations of cake decoration methods continue! While buttercream and cream cheese are fairly common, let’s take a look at a few more specific and decadent types of frosting and icing.
Did you know there are three different styles of meringue alone? They include the Swiss, Italian, and French variety. They are all made up the same ingredients including, eggs, sugar syrup, and butter. The difference begins at what temperature you add the butter, or wether you use egg whites, or like in French Meringue, just egg yolks. Either way, you’re left with a sweet, airy creation.
Do you love chocolate? If you do, ganache will probably be your new favorite frosting. Consisting of only heavy cream and chocolate pieces of your choice, heat the cream evenly and add chocolate chunks allowing to stand a few minutes before stirring. Let the mixture cool to room temperature and then place it in the fridge until it is completely set. Transfer the ganache into a mixer and beat on high until it takes a light and fluffy consistency.
